Im thinking about sleeving my psu to help clean up this horrible clutter i have in my case. I already have the sleeves as it came with my mobo. Im just wondering do i HAVE to remove my molexes and my power connectors? I dont want to do that cause: 1. Im lazy. 2: i dont have the molex removal tool to make everything easier.
 
If all of your sleving is large, you might not have to remove them. However, it will be much easier if you do so, because cable sleeves are easily torn/damaged if they get snaged on the corner of a molex

You dont need a molex remover, just something that will fit inside the plastic piece to push back the two prongs that hold the metal in place. Once sleeved, push the metal back in and push out the prongs
 
do you know of anything i can use besides an actually molex remover? i decided to try to do it without one and now i cant get the heatshrink over the molexes =(
 
I have used the mini flat head screw drivers, such as those for eye-glasses repair

But i dont understand your problem...You tried "it" without "one", im assuming you couldn't get it off and the heatshrink wont fit over correct?
 
Yea, mini screwdriver or a staple. Then just slide, hotknife-cut, heatshrink, repeat.
 
That's true. It just seals the end so it doesn't fray. I also like using a dremel with a cut-off tool set for max speed. It melts the ends togehter so it doesn't fray.

Try it.
 
I made my own female molex remover by taking out the ink cartridge out of a old (no ink) papermate pen, and broke it in half.

I then used a slightly larger drill bit (I forgot the size) and hand turned it inside the tube cartridge up to about 1/2 inch (do it by hand...a drill will probably screw it up).

There are several guides on google on how to make your own atx/molex removers.
 
I have always just used an icepick.. Very useful for this and .. other things ;)

And a lighter to melt the ends
 
I never want to hear sleeving + psu again.

After pretty much 4 hours of work, 4 destroyed molexes in pieces, and tons of black sleeving matterial on the floor in peices.. im so tired.. I went out and got a molex remover, i removed 4-5 molexes perfectly fine but then there were 2 that i had to litterally break into peices because the ground wires were stuck. Not to mention that the heatshrink wouldnt stick and get small enough, and the smaller ones i couldnt get onto the wire. Next time if i ever want to sleeve a psu again, i think it will be worth the $100 to get Best Buy to do it (jk jk)
 
yeah, sleeving is a pain the butt. I did it once and never again. Got myself an Ultra X-finity and those look pretty :)
