Single or dual core?

My computer is dying on me.I will change the power supply first and work from there.
My current processor is a Prescott 2.8 Ghz socket 478. I use my computer mostly for gaming and backing up my DVDs. I play Battlefield 2, WoW, and Counter Strike Source. I know that I need a mobo, ram, and video card.
Should I get a dual core or stick with a single core processor?
 
For your gaming, I would really just stick with a mid to high end 6x0 series processor. If you really want to get a dual core and have good gaming experiences then the AMD side is probably better for you(lets not let this statement turn into a flamefest, im just trying to help out this person). With that said though Presler is looking mighty fine, so if can wait for about a week or two, you should make your decision then.
 
I think I will settle on the dual core.
Should I choose between the 2.8 Ghz or 3.0 Ghz dual core?
$245 compared to $321. Is it worth it to spend an extra $76 for an increase of only 200 mhz between the two?
 
I just installed my Antec TruePower 2.0 550 watt power supply.
Hopefully that solves my problem. I am going to let the powersupply burn in for a week or so before I tidy up my cable work. Presler looks really nice. Maybe an uprgrade this summer. :D
