Single disk to RAID 0

Hey guys, help me out here. Hopefully someone has ran into this before. I usually run a SATA RAID 0 setup in my rig. I have also recently replaced my mobo, as such I did a clean install of Windows XP. One of my hard disks was also bad, so I RMA'ed that back to Western Digital and just recently got it back.

I am wanting to install it back to RAID 0, I am running a single disk atm. My question is this, I am wanting to avoid having to re-install XP, so here is what I thought I could do, but wasn't sure if any of them would work:

1. Install new disk, go into SATA RAID setup utlity at boottime and create the array. Windows XP already has the driver, so I am assuming it will recognize the array and work as normal.

2. Image my current disk, install the array and image back.

Number one would be my preferred method. I already have all my apps, games, etc installed on my machine and I would hate to have to do it again.
 
you will have to do number 2. number 1 wont work because when you create a raid 0 array everything gets erased.

What I was afraid of lol. Oh well, it gives me something to do anyhow. Thanks.....
 
yes - creating the drive interleave mappings will erase all the data on the current drives you add to the array... perhaps you can concatenate them? If you are just looking for more space, then that should work fine. :)
