I'm thinking a lot of these GPS units are designed very similarly... so maybe any of you guys could help me out even if you don't have the same one I do. But my unit is a PND-K3 by Alpine.
My question is, how do I attach the suction thing into the gps device? The manual doesn't address that AT ALL. Seems like a stupid omission...
My initial thought was to just snap the suction thing into place, of course. But when I tried, it would not go in easily, so now I'm afraid I'll just break the whole thing if I try to force it...
Here's the closest thing I can find about that, taken from manual:

So, what is it talking about with the machine screws? Use "metric m4 8mm machine screws" ... for what, exactly?
I thought maybe the thing with the machine screws is the answer... somehow loosen it up then tighten it again? But that seems pretty dumb; and the socket doesn't seem designed with any complicated mechanism like that. So do I just need to quit worrying and just push it in?
