Silicon Image driver issue(Windows)

OK, so I have an IC7-MAX3. Until recently I was only using the ICH5R on the southrbridge for RAID.

The board also has a Silicon Image 3112 controller according to Abits website

But.. If you look at the chip, the model # starts is SI3114.


My problem is that windows will not install the Plug and Play drivers for this device. I had the device disabled, so Windows did not see it before.

Tried the driver from the previos link on Abit's site(for 3112 chip). Also tried the drivers off of Silicon Image's website for 3112 and 3114. With similar results.

The abit installer attempts to look for the device and then install it. Gives the error: "Device not found!"

If I let windows attempt to find the drivers itself, if fails.
If I point it to the directory that contains the .inf file. it fails.

If I choose "No,..." and manuall choose the inf file, it gives me the option for 3112 or 3114, depending on which inf I chose.
Forcing either of them results error "Code 10". Windows cannot start this device.

Am I missing something here?
This seems like a simple case of wrong software/drivers for this device, but I pulled it straight from the Abit site and SI's site.

Hmm. Well, the only difference between those model numbers is the number of ports they supply. I'm unsure about your driver issue.... are there different drivers for RAID vs non-RAID? I know Promise does this, Silicon Image might as well.

Thanks for the reply, but I fixed it.


Different BIOS revisions of this board will only work with the corresponding driver version for the SI RAID controller. Abit's site doesn't say that. I had to dig through there ftp site to find the files and start the "trial and error" process.

Works fine now.
