So have two SK41G boxen here at work, one workin fine other freezing when booting, or when entering XP setup..etc.. thought it was a heat issue, set the 'auto shutoff on temp XX" off, still freezes or shuts off.

Went and got the flash util from shuttle, along with the bios bin file, and after flashing voila no boot (nothing on screen)... bad bios/flash/something? If so, any way to recover other than a rom rma or taking it somewhere to be reprogrammed?

Try looking at an easier diagnosed issue, like your RAM. Lots of times when I'm doing a setup on XP and it reboots, bluescreens, or shuts off it turns out to be bad ram. And of course you want to rip out everything non-essential (soundcards, nics, etc...) to help narrow the field. (in regards to the XP issue)

Also, what you suggested seems to be logical as well, just more of a PIA to fix, I'd say it was a bad flash. (in regards to the flash)
