A friend just bought a Shuttle, and she wants to do something to spice up the front panel. I recall seeing a mod where someone somehow installed a printed image behind the front acrylic piece. Does anyone remember who this was, how they did it, or where I can find some pictures of their work? Thanks!

check the post your workstation sticky in the case mods gallery. It's in the last few pages.

Basically, you remove the plexi, put a printed image in... replace plexi. Easy as pie.

If you can use a pair of scissors, you can do this mod.

Start by taking off the front acrulic cover. It is helad on by 4 allen screws located at the corners. Also take off the acrylic cover for the floppy drive and for the CDROM (if you stealthed your drives).

You'll notice a piece of "paper" behind each piece. Save those and use them as your template for cutting out your picture.

Find an image you like and print it out.

Lay the template over the images, draw a faint line with a pencil, and cut it out.

Reinstall the pieces in reverse order.

Simple as that.

Also, Shuttle sells EL backlit covers for the Shuttles. Definately look into one.
