Should I wait for directx 10?

wats up guys lol. I was takling with a friend yesterday and was like I nedd a new video card lol and I asked him what he thought I should get lol and he was like you should get nothing until this directx 10 thing cums out lol. I am not exectly sure what this thing he is talking about is lol but I am not sure if I need it or not cause I don't know what programs it will run for lol. Will it help with games or the internet? Will it make my computer run faster lol? (of course not actually run but process information lol) Does anyone know houw much this directx 10 is going to cost cause if it is really expensive I may not get it since I dont want to waste my money lol. So i was wondering what you guys thought about this whole directx thing and what I should do. Cause I am not sure if I should weight or not lol. Cause I want to play games and stuff on my computer so I need to make sure it has good hardware so I can ply games lol. Will the cards cumming out later be a whole lot better than they are now cause I might if that is the case lol. But I am also kinda afraid that I might get impatient lol cause I want my computer to be the best that it can be lol but im not sure if I should go around dumping money in my compter if I dont need it lol.
 
Buy a video card, any DX9 card will do, DX10 wont be anything special like Microsoft wants it to be. Any DX9 card will work with the new windows that is coming out in like a year (when DX10 will be present on the market in large quantities, no doubt).

How often do you upgrade hardware? If you only do it every 3 or more years then you might want to wait for DX10. Basically DX10 is Windows Vista's(next windows version) way of doing all graphics. DX10 is free but you have to have Vista to use it. I doubt any games will release right away that require only DX10 to run so even if you get a card now it probably won't hurt you. DX10 does add quite a bit as far as usefulness in games but it's not likely something that you will see for some time.

QFT. If you arnt much of a constant upgrader then you probably would want to wait. But if you have no problem upgrading in 6 months to a year, then just get a DirectX 9 card now. Anything in the 7900 series or X1900 series would do a great job for a good while.
 
Im pretty sure you guys missed the joke, from the constant "lol"ing and the improbably stupidity i believe the op was attempting to be funny (judging from their other posts, they are not this dumb)

Like whats up B lol. DX10 is like lol for graphics lol. like it may not cum on your face for like many months lol. DX10 is like free and will probly cum on your face with vista lol. The cards cumming all over the place with DX10 will be designed with DX10 in mind lol, so... like current cards will not support DX10 lol. What kind of computer do you use now lol? cuz like if it goes around dumping on everything you may just get a decent rig now and just upgrade the GPU for DX10 when it finally cums on your face lol. Dont lol listen lol to lol your lol friend lololololololol cum
 
Games will likely still have a dx9 path for the next couple of years, so a dx9 card bought now will still play the latest and greatest games after dx10 comes out.. Just without whatever eyecandy dx10 brings.. But isn't that the case with every generation of graphics cards? As your card ages you start turning down the settings, or buy a new card.. Like always..


If you have a card that still plays the games well enough for you, stick with it.. If you can't stand the low framerate and low settings, get something better right now.. Dx10 is not coming out til the beginning of next year as far as I know.. A long time to wait if you are running a crappy card...

i'm glad i'm not the only one who noticed the lol after every sentence, lol. to futher the already prevalent opinion, lol, i would wait lolers. but if you need to upgrade now, then you need to upgrade now, lol. if you can wait, just wait, lol. and i would love for DX10 to cum on my face.
 
this thread made me giggle

the general advice i'd give is buy now, enjoy gaming with the latest tech you can afford today, then when DX10 cards come out and you see it show an advantage in gaming then sell your current card and buy a new one
 
What kind of video card do you have now? If you're upgrading from a 9800Pro or something then yes, upgrade now. If you allready have like a X850 or 6800Ultra then you can probobly wait.
