hi

i have 2 x 1gb g.skill B/DUAL-F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ rated 5 5 5 15 and
2 x 1gb g.skill B/DUAL-F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ rated 4 4 4 12
both currently installed with a gigabyte P35 DS3R and a core 2 duo 6750.

i am currently overclocking it at 3.2ghz but would my system perform better if i took out the lower rated RAM and went for a higher overclock with 2gb instead of 4gb?

any suggestions would be appreciated!

2 gigs will generally give a better overclock than 4. There really is no benefit to using 4 gigs unless you have a 64 bit os.32 bit does not address it all.

thanks for your reply!

i've run memtest with the g.skill hz sticks and they can do 900 at stock volts so should i go for 450 fsb x 7 or 400 fsb x 8.
is a higher fsb likely to be safe? i've got a 120mm fan in the front and a 120mm fan at the rear of my case so i'm fairly sure the airflow is ok.

with 4gb i've had to bump up the mch +.2 and vcore to 1.425 to get it stable whereas before all voltages were set to auto, except vcore @ 1.375 so i guess i should take out the 2gb.

Use 4GB if 2GB isnt enough.
Its that simple.
