Should I upgrade my CPU?

I've got a 1700+ tbred that I run at 2.2GHz. I've been thinking of doing the upgrade to a Mobile 2500+ which I hear can do 2.5GHz. Not only would I get more MHz if it's able to OC better than my tbred but I'll also get the extra cache. Or should I wait for the 939-pin A64?

Depends on when you plan on going to 64-bit, since you will need an overhaul for that. If you plan on this Mobile being able to extend the life of your current setup, then yeah...I'd go for it. If not, save the cash for the 64-bit upgrade.

id say go ahead and get the mobile athlon. but youll need good cooling to overclock.

how much money do u have?
if u have alot then go ahead and get the mobile
if not then wait for socket 939 to come out and THEN make ur decision
dont buy something now and regret later (unless ur mad rich)

Well I don't have money to throw away but I'm basically seeking a little extra overal performance for some of the newer games and for under a $100 to get a CPU that can do 2.5GHz would be nice. If I save the money I'm assuming I'll need to spend around $500 for the A64 setup. I figure $150 - $200 for a mobo, and $300 - $350 or more for the CPU. Seems a little steep for a CPU/mobo combo but that's what I'm assuming it'll cost the minute the 939-pin comes out.
