Should I get an ATI card?

I built my PC over the summer on a small budget. Have a 3000+ Winchester paired with a lowly 6200 series XFX video card.

Now I'm planning on upgrading to a mid range vid card but don't know if I should go with an ATI or stay with Nvidia. I was thinking about getting the Connect3D x800GTO (got good reviews on newegg). What does everyone else think? Is there an Nvidia card that can match it with a similar price? I'm still pretty strapped for cash so I can't go over $200.

Why not ATI, they make solid products. At AGP in that price bracket ATI has the best offerings in my opinion. That very card you looking at has a great sucess rate of overclocking and modding to a X850. YOu should be a happy camper spending only $200 on that baby. Buy with confidence if you ask me.

6800 gs for like 50 more than gto i guess is the best comparison. i would go with gto!

Thats a great card, id reocmmend it as a massive step up from your 6200. Dont get me wrong, nvidia is great, but this card is just a better value due to its potential (pipes and OCing)

Yeah, I agree. I've heard quite a few great things about the x800gto, and if you're able to unlock it, then you've got some really good performance. If you're looking for an nvidia option I'd say that the 6800gt would be a good bet if you buy one used; the pci-e 6800gts are selling for VERY cheap.

Thanks for the feedback. I was pretty much set on the x800GTO but wanted to see if there was another option. Sounds like its my best bet though. Early Christmas present for myself! Thanks again all.
