Well, it seems there all useless right now since Realtemp shows everything correctly. I been worried ever since i got this cpu because my temps have been 60-70c for some odd reason under high load. I already re-set the heatsink many times and switched thermal compounds. I was about to go out and buy a $50 heatsink to cool this expensive e8400 thinking i would ruin it.


I ran Realtemp and it shows all my temps 10c below every other program out there. I know about the 105 and 85 tjamx thing now.


So, have all of you dumped core temp for realtemp. Why are some people still recommending core temp if it shows wrong temps for the wolfdale people?

Anyways, im happy with my temps. I only wish Realtemp showed the temps in the taskbar.

uhhhh... well that BG is raising your coretemp to 100C because SpeedFan is straight.
 
I have officially dumped all other programs for RealTemp. It shows the same information, delta to TJMax, which is arguably the most important one.

I guess I still have Speedfan running, but I have calibrated it to show the same temps as RealTemp. The only reason I use it, is so that my cpu temps will show up in my sidebar system monitoring gadget.

Everything I have read makes a lot of sense to me when it comes to RealTemp, and it still shows Delta to TJMax, which if you notice will be the same as if you run Coretemp etc.
 
I think part of the problem with recommending one over the other is that no one knows for sure what the Tjunction is for the Wolfdales. Realtemp is reporting 10C lower because the author used a lower Tjunction, if that makes you feel more comfotable with your temps, that's great, but I don't know that it is truly more accurate - as mentioned the Delta to Tjunction is the important measure, and both show the same data for that.
