Shorter modular cables?

I just got the Corsair 520hx for an upcoming build, and I was wondering if I could get shorter modular cables. For example, it would be nice to just have a nice short 8- or 10-inch cable to go directly across to the optical drive in the top front. Some of the other cables could probably be shorter as well.

If they aren't available, is cutting and splicing the cables okay?

I've never seen shorter modular cables for sale, you'd be lucky to just find the regular cables outside of ordering direct from Corsair.

If you're proficiant with a soldering iron and understand you'll probably be adding resistance to the cable there shouldn't be any issues with shortening the cable yourself.

I would highly recommend just doing it yourself. The 4 pin molex connectors for a PSU are almost older than sin. If you go to a company like Jameco you can buy new connectors, pins, and a crimper for a few bucks. Grab some new mesh and heatshrink tubing and you can mod your PSU cables to all hell.
