Well, if you've seen any of my posts the past few days, you know I'm in the market for an upgrade. Heres the situation: I have a p4 1.9 ghz 400mhz FSB, with 256mb of RDRAM, a geforce 4 ti 4200, and NOTHING for harddrive space. My case and mobo are Dell propiatary, so they both need to be replaced. The only problem is, I have a $650 price limit. I've thought about everything: New cpu all together, a mobo upgrade with the same cpu. The only thing I'm really certain of is a gig of DDR400 and new HDD and modest videocard (6600 or 6600gt maybe?) I really don't know. I know how much you guys like playing around with shopping carts, and I'm hoping you will bestow some of your wisdom upon me. So... have at it. Some Ideas I've had include: OC'ing a Sempron 3100+, going a64 somehow (expensive), and of course keeping my CPU and OC'ing. What the hell should I do with this money?

surf newegg or zipzoomfly (which ever happens to be cheapest)

$90 Socket 939 mobo w/ nForce4 chipset, PCI-E
$100 1gb (2x512mb) PC3200 CAS=2.5
$75 Decent case w/ 350w PSU
$60 16x DVD Burner
$110 6600 PCI-E

Completely do-able.

SN95G5 Shuttle XPC Black

AMD Athlon64 3000+ 939pin

Seagate 160GB Barracuda SATA

Corsair Select PC3200 1GB Kit (2x512MB)

and keep your TI4200 for the time being.

$638.99 Shipped

Save up your money and/or try to sell some of the parts you have and you'll have enough to nab a 6600GT in no time.

It's better to skimp out on one thing and being able to get it later rather than skimp a little on everything, trust me

Why would a SFF be better than buying a regular case and ATX mobo, etc..?
