ok i run the HP JetDirect software on the PC that also happens to by my router, and some genious has an hp jetdirect on my ISP's subnet (we all have routable IPs)

i keep recieving advertisements from it and i looked at the web management console thingie and it has >NO< passwords

omg how dumb can you get

anyway i really want to send these people a "please take your printer off the interet" page but im worried about legallity...

would it technically be legal since it was advertising itself to me?

not sure, would like some opinions

If you were to send a one page notice, then I don't see what "harm" could ever be construed from doing so.

However with all the lawsuits flying around today, it just might be better left untouched;)

At work, one of the techs accidently put a laser printer on one of our extermal ip's. Within a week, someone from poland was printing out porn on it.. I wouldnt worry about it, chances are they will find out on their own soon enough :D
