SG-03 build feedback

I'm not why you are choosing an hx650W (though I know corsair makes good stuff), but I went with the Silverstone st70f because you can buy a short cable kit that makes a huge difference when dealing with such a small space. In the picture is a Tagan 1100w which fits, but is just way too much cable and decreases air flow.

Also, I'm using an Antec tri-cool fan for the H50 and its lowest setting and my cpu temps never even reach 70c. Idle they are about 45 - 50c.

As stated before, I have removed the bottom fan and I also removed my roof exhaust. So I only have intake from the H50 fan, and exhaust from the PSU fan, and my temps are just fine. The GPU Idles at 44c and loads in the 70's which is perfectly normal.

And as stated in my sig, I'm OCed to 3.8ghz on a not so favorable C0 stepping....It's just a very well designed case!
 
Yeah it was a hard choice between the corsair and that PSU. In the end, corsair's (or should I say seasonic in this case) reputation won it over for me, plus I had an hx620 in my last rig.
Unfortunately I don't have the time to go through returning that psu and going for the silverstone - I need to build tomorrow, so I'll have to make do. At least with the flat cables I should be able to double them up and tie them off.

Anyway, those temps are pretty impressive, at least I have no cause to worry.

in my SG03 i've installed the H50 as intake and i actually oriented it 90deg of what is shown in that pic,

i'm using the seasonic M12 700W psu , cables lengths are just about perfect for semi decent cable routing , sometimes when the cables are too short its hard to route them neatly and may result in poor air flow(especially in such a tight case)

well perhaps check out the new seasonic X-650 or x750, its 100% modular

Can you post a pic of it? I'm helping a friend build the exact some system I have...I'm curious as to the benefits of the way you installed your H50.
 
I got my H50 a week ago. It was a tight fit to install in the SG03 for sure, especially as the "cables" are quite stiff and getting them to bend properly to go under the PSU was difficult. Also it was surprisingly annoying to fit the radiator to the front panel. I had to go through some hoops to get it done due to the screwing mechanism. I had to mount the radiator the the front grill assembly (oriented horizontally) and then try and wiggle the damn thing in place. Annoying indeed! Good news is that the CPU is indeed staying very cool now, 16-25 idle core temps, 32-39 under 100% IntelBurnTest load (i5 750 CPU).

Bad news, though, is that getting the H50 was in large part - at least as large as the cooling performance itself - an attempt to make the computer quiet, but now the OCZ StealthXStream 600W is so loud that it didn't help much to get rid of the stock Intel cooler... sigh. Cue in a PSU replacement at some point in the future despite wishing I didn't need to do that :p I'm really starting to think I can't get a silent computer no matter what, unless I just stick to my netbook ;)
 
I just got building a SG03 my self. and found that if I have my power supply fan draw from the side vent, it runs quieter then from inside of the case.

My temps only changed about a 1 to 2 at idle and 3 to 4 under a full load. You may want to try it and see how it works out for you.
 
Have all of you got the fan intaking air through the radiator? I'm just concerned about hot air being blown over the board.
 
The air is not likely to get overly hot, really. Plus I have two front fans, so the second one takes in air unobstructed to help keep things cool. The PSU fan is using air from the side vent. Overall things are staying very cool. Just hoping to get it more silent.

Oh, and my front fan is a Nexus 120mm Real Silent, and it's running at 5v or 7v (one is at 7 and one at 5, but can't remember which is the one I attached to radiator to). And the CPU temps still are very very cool. If it ran at 12v... nuts.
 
By the way, has anyone tried fitting a Silverstone Nightjar passively cooled power source in the SG03? Been considering it as an option. Downsides seem to be it's very heavy, and, of course, not modular :( But at least it'd be dead quiet.

I'm using a Corsair HX520w psu in my SG03 and its pretty quiet. I've used the HX620w in builds as well and that unit is equally pretty quiet. I swear by these two units they are that good. All Intel stock fans are noisy so I'm not surprised that fan was making things too loud for you. If you get the right components about the only thing that you really have to worry about as far as noise goes will be the video card and there are aftermarket work arounds to that in many cases. The SG03 rig in my rig is one nice little quiet machine. :)
 
Would there be enough room in the roof of the SG03 to cut a 120mm hole and mount the H50 there?
The two front fans would be intake and the H50 would exhaust out the top.

One issue you will run into is the size of your CD/DVD/Blu-ray Drive.

I have a SG04 very similar footprint.
My Blu-Ray drive will not allow the space for a 120 fan, so a radiator is out of the question, if you have a shorter drive it would allow it in.
