SFF rig question / suggestions

Okay guys,

I'm in the process of researching SFF rigs. The goal is to build a secondary pc for my lan rig. I'd like to use the fractal Design Core 1000 case, but im open to other options that size or smaller. I know its a pretty crammed case but I'm looking into two cooling options. A custom water loop with a dual or single bay pump/reseviour combo. or using an "all in one" H60 or H70. I'll be running a 2500k over clocked if possible up to 4.8 paired with the asus maxims Matx (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131759). I have a few questions

1) has anyone ran an all internal water loop with one of these cases
2) recommendation for any other case options?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, the goal is to have the smallest size case that can fit an matx & full size graphics card.
 
I'm working on a gpu/cpu loop for my MI-008 with a dual 140mm rad ;) -- running no reservoir. Doubt I'll have the capacity to crank the OC that high, though, unless I get a super chip that doesn't need much voltage!
 
I'm currently running 2*120 rads with my 2500K and 6950 underwater using the XSPC Rasa kit in a Lian Li v351, you could also look at the v353 as well. It was a tight fit and had to do some modding/cutting but it does fit. One rad is really easy but the second one requires the hacking.

Liquid cooling is not the answer to getting your 2500K to 4.8GHz. You will be limited by the amount of voltage you are comfortable with pushing through your CPU, plus to a lesser degree the motherboard. Cooling only becomes an issue if it is insufficient, but any decent $30 air cooler will be sufficient.

The Silverstone TJ08-e would be my recommendation. I use one for my personal system and I am totally happy with it. Well built, looks nice, that 180mm AP fan in the front wooshes hot air out! Support for the largest HSF's out there (Willing to use 5.25 bay for a HDD or the bottom 3.5? then you can even fit a Noctua D14 or TT Arrow). Has a Removable MB tray and the wire management is great! There are even ways in the case of supporting Large HSF's and Video cards in such a way that they don't move around too much while transporting the system.


If you are determined to go water then I'd say a Fractal Arc Mini is a better idea (Check out what Lagtism did in another thread), however, I could see this case being very lan friendly do to being so compact yet has good airflow while allowing large components.

I'd suggest searching for one on Amazon, as shipping is rather spendy the egg for it o_O.

Oh and, an H80/H60/H70/Kuhler 920/620 will all fit if Self contained water is what you want XD
