Other than shuttle's black 939 sff, what other brands are in the horizon or currently available? I need some competition as well as feature/price comparision!!! ETA's would be nice also. Thanks.
 
none. i have a sn95g5 and its awesome looking and runs pretty good. but there are alot of problems with it. i am thinking about returning it for a soltek 3801
 
i get 17 celsius idle for cpu. the fans on headers 2 and 3 arent adjustable, the board uses the non gb versionof the nf 3 250 chipset which makes non of the available nvidia chipset utilities work correctly and the included shuttle utilities are more of a hassle then nothing at all. hte power supply seems to get too hot to touch regardless of the fan speed. there is a high pitch cherping sound coming rom the power regulator coils. almost all drivers for my videocard render a black screen when installed and with the ones that work i score 8k in 3dmark 03.the gigabit ethernet isnt implemented right , its located on the pci buus so its limited to 133 megabits /sec instewad of 1000. since the chips isnt implemented right the personal firewall doesnt even become available for use. there are tons of other issues but maybe its just my particular unit
 
Nope, your talking about pretty much the problems that everyone else has with the 95G. The incorrect tempatures are a result of AMD changing the themal probe design in some of the A64's which the shuttles BIOS isn't able to correctly read. Shuttle is working on the issue, but no recall will be released.

The coils have been found to be noisey as well, nothing you can do about it. Given the fact of the amount of wattage being drawn from a PSU thats rated max is 240w, there gonna run warm no matter what you do. The lack of nVidia's onboard NIC and firewall is something shuttle decided on and is in no rush to tell folks why.

man 8k is mega low for xp3500 n 6800gt. doesnt make sense. so wat 6800nu would only get 6k?
wat did u mean by fans on headers 2 and 3 arent adjustable? are there permanent fans connected on headers 2 n 3 n they are noisy, is that wat u meant?
is the psu that bad? i suppose it can be replaced..
how is the acutal cooling? is it warm to touch?
how much can u oc?
soz bout too many questions, but i was gonna get one, if i recall correctly it did well on the review on gamepc.
 
theere is limited overclockability. the psiu is not reeplaceable nnecause shuttle is the only ones that makes them.im sure i had a 6800gt.the fan headers should adjust fan speeds but they do not work like they should.
 
I have a 95G5 and like it. It definately has quirks, but nothing that can't be worked around.
The temp thing I don't care about, because the smartfan always annoyed me. Changing RPMs always drew my attention to it, so I set it at medium and its very quiet.

The coil thing isn't loud enough for me to notice. I have to take the cover off in order to hear the coils over the fan noise of my ReplayTV across the room. I can see if it were in a bedroom I might think about that one more.

I would have liked to play with the nVidia firewall thing, but its no great loss.

Overclocking is definately limited. But I'm still getting 2442 out of my 3500+. And the performance is just stunning.

I'm trying to say if you like the style and want one, get one. Its quirky, but still a solid machine. If you can wait for a less quirky box, get the Soltek. It sounds like they will beat Shuttle at their own game this time 'round.

i just hope you didnt buy a 939 cpu. the soltek website says that the 3801 is a 754.


does anyone know of any other SSF socket 939's???? all i see is the sn95g5 and i am having doubts with all the problems that people are saying.
 
I jsut bought an SN95G5 and all I got to say is that its damn rock solid. I havn't had any problems beside the Proc temp issue... and smartfan set to low solves that for now. (Even though it runs fine normally)

Its fast and responsive, glitch free and stable. Windows gave me one error so far due to a botched driver install. It does run a bit hot but its an SFF, just keep it to one HD and you'll be fine.
