SFF Firewall Setup

I want to setup one of these systems because they are small. Basically I want to run a firewall on it. Smoothwall or other nix based firewal and have it hidden away and us a kvm to access it.

As such I want to spend very little. The way I understand is that I would need to buy an extra NIC, a HDD, A cpu, and RAM.

Are any of you using a SFF system for this type of purpose? or is this overkill?

thanks

Even the lowest end models of shuttles are real overkill for a firewall. Hell, you can setup a good firewall on an old P2 233 mhz and it will run just dandy, alot of folks do it.

If your on a budget, dont' bother with the shuttle unless you find one dirt cheap on Ebay, otherwise find an old P2 box or thereabouts and smoothwall will run just fine on it.
