Hey guys, I am getting a quad core chip in today and was wondering what I need to do to set it up to run on cores 3 and 4. Want to fold on those cores when I game or surf the web to help contribute to the cause.

One session of the SMP client will run all 4 cores. What os? Congrats on the new piece! I don't think you can run just 3 cores, you could limit the cpu usage not to be 100%, but all my boxes are 100% usage and throttle down perfectly for encoding, gaming, etc.

Yes, nothing special to do, just run the SMP client and it will use all 4 cores. When you need the power, it will release them without issue :)

sweet, thanks guys.. just never got into folding... where is the software located that we can use??

Hey Athlon.... welcome to folding. Remember to fold for Team 33 --- that is [H]ard OCP... put "33" as your team number to fold for the [H]ard [H]orde!

Yup - welcome to the [H]orde. Is Athlon folding with an Intel processor? ;)

Yup, it looks like there are defectors everywhere these days. Until the bang for the buck goes a different direction it looks like there will be a lot more;)

Athlon,
I remember you when I was modding the AMD forum. Welcome my friend. Great to have you as a part of the team!

:D :D :D
