So here's the deal, I was wondering if any of you could offer solutions on how to possibly get this done.

End result: I bring a laptop into the room, and wirelessly can display on the TV on the wall.

I'm thinking something like there being a possible way to make an HDMI input be a node on a network or something???

Affordable wireless HDMI has been promised every year at CES for a few years now but remains vaporware. Dunno about VGA. Plenty of cheap gadgets for composite / s-video.

Only reason I said HDMI is just incase I ever wanted to do sound.

What about just composite or VGA then?

So your TV's on the wall. First off, about every wall TV I've seen is mounted higher than optimal eye-level, so that might be a disadvantage. Second, for your application it would probably be best to just have a loose HDMI cable near the TV, which you grab to connect your laptop to. That would be the simplest, cheapest, and have the best performance.

Here are some wireless options.

It seems theoretically doable but really it's just a difficult technology to tackle up due to the pure bandwith that displays require. A typical 1920x1080@60 hz is something like ~3gigs a sec of data which is perfectly doable for DVI and HDMI of course but as far as I know, wireless still tops out around 600 megs (am I wrong?).

Drop the refresh rate or the resolution by a big chunk and we're talking, but I don't think we'll see it for HD content until there is some kind of huge jump in wireless tech.
