i have trouble connecting my wireless laptop onto my network setup.... here is my setup...
DSL Modem w/wireless (Actiontec GT701-WG) with LAN ip of 192.168.0.1 hardwired to Desktop 192.168.0.2
The GT701-WG is configured for static IP (WAN) RFC1483 bridged, wireless is on with WEP with MAC authentication accpeting all clients, DHCP server is on from 192.168.0.2 to .254, and NAT is also on.
I can connect with my desktop hardwired fine but when I use my laptop after installing it, I get an IP that starts with 169.x.x.x with a subnet of 255.255.0.0 and no gateway... so I try to manually set the ip to 192.168.0.5 subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway of 192.168.0.1 with my ISP DNS servers 208.x.x.3 and 208.x.x.4
Any of them wont give me internet connection, the manual setup says its connected but I cant ping 192.168.0.1. I am missing something here, any help would be great. I just want internet on the laptop which is a client and my 2-in1 modem w/wireless is suppose to be the gateway?
