• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

I like the forums, yes I do. I like the forums and so do you.

That aside, why is it that when I am writing a rather lengthy post, that my session times out and when I am finally ready to submit the post, I am prompted again for username and password, and my post data is not cached at all, so I end up back at a blank post screen with the last half hour essentially wasted typing things no one will ever read. :(

I am somewhat used to this, and when I am aware that the post has taken me a long time to write, I'll generally copy it all to the clipboard in the event that this happens. Of course, if I forget to take such an unnecessary step, I am forced to either abandon the post, or start over.

Other forums generally cache the post date, and I can even move backward through my browser history and then forward again to return to the post in progress at the exact letter I left off at. Why not here? I don't imagine it being that hard to implement, and saving a lot of headache and hassle for those of us that spend more than 30 seconds thinking about what kind of thoughtful comments to include in their posts.

Why is it that only on [H]ardForum that I have to take the extra, unnceccsary step of copying my post to the clipboard before submitting it to ensure it doesn't vanish?

Not a problem at home, but on public systems I frequently use I am not about to save my user info.

So you want me to figure out why public systems you use log you out? I have this complaint for no others. I would suggest the problem is on your end. We serve the same pages to your home that we do to you everywhere else.

No, I don't want you to figure out why public systems log me out. Besides, I doubt that would be much of a mystery anyway.

What I am getting at is what I notice when posting on other forums. If I am not logged in when attempting to reply, it will save the content of my post while I log in, so that when I do get myself logged in, I am not presented with an empty reply box devoid of the constructive and thoughtful post I've just typed. This has happened on numerous occasions to me here, and I've learned to deal with it by just copying and pasting my post before pressing "Submit".

What can you do about it? I don't know. What do I expect you to do about it? I guess I don't care that much, because honestly I'm venting more than anything. If you spend a good twenty or thirty minutes constructing a well thought-out post that will aid in a discussion, you'd be equally exasperated at the loss of your work.

I'm not calling for tech support here, (though I would imagine it would be better than Dells) I am simply venting my frustration at the loss of a post. If anything, I'll probably just end up reinforcing myself to copy and paste on these forums. I imagine the topic title may have been somewhat misleading, but when I want to pull my hair out, I tend not to make as much sense.

That's a browser issue, not a forum issue.
