Back ground.
Ok on wedensday evening my 9600pro finally gave up on me, so I have to buy a new video card. I get myself a shiny new 6800GU (GT Running DDRIII (1.6NS ram and 400 Mhz core) and comes at standard with a Artic style cooler.
Now my system is a P4 2.8 Ghz running at 3.5 (1Ghz FSB) I have the following PCI cards also installed in the system. and It's a Lain-Li PC61B Case.
SATA Disk Controller.
Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 (zs)
80211.g Adapter
I have 6 Harddisks and a DVD RW+/- also installed. the config of these are.
Attached to the Disk Caddy at the bottom
2xSata - Mainboard
1xSata PCI Sata controller.
Attached to the 3.5 FDD Ports halfway up the case.
3xIDE (Pata) Attached to the Mainboard.
DVD RW+/- In the lowest 5.25 slot.
Problem.....
While I had the 9600 Air flow was not a issue. In at the front and the two exausts (Back/Top) blew it out. keeping the system at a nice even teprature. HOWEVER. I did not take into the consideration the sheer size of this new vidcard., A Quick Smoke test shows that this vidcard not only blocks the air channels for the north bridge/CPU/MEM But It's Exausting it all ( Not quite all but most of it). Now This has obviously risen the temprature to a point where I had to lower my O/C where as the GPU is still quite happily at about 57-59C. my processor is hitting high 40's. for my P4 that's Very high. Usally sits in high 30's
I am Trying to keep my PC as clean looking as possible. so I really don't want to cut any holes If pos. Anyone Know of any tricks to Increase the air flow around these monster videocards. I've already put a high speed exaust fan on the rear (3500 RPM fan 8CM) and I'm contemplating making the top exaust a intake, Or possibly making a duct up for one of my intakes.
