Back ground.

Ok on wedensday evening my 9600pro finally gave up on me, so I have to buy a new video card. I get myself a shiny new 6800GU (GT Running DDRIII (1.6NS ram and 400 Mhz core) and comes at standard with a Artic style cooler.

Now my system is a P4 2.8 Ghz running at 3.5 (1Ghz FSB) I have the following PCI cards also installed in the system. and It's a Lain-Li PC61B Case.

SATA Disk Controller.
Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 (zs)
80211.g Adapter

I have 6 Harddisks and a DVD RW+/- also installed. the config of these are.

Attached to the Disk Caddy at the bottom
2xSata - Mainboard
1xSata PCI Sata controller.

Attached to the 3.5 FDD Ports halfway up the case.
3xIDE (Pata) Attached to the Mainboard.

DVD RW+/- In the lowest 5.25 slot.

Problem.....

While I had the 9600 Air flow was not a issue. In at the front and the two exausts (Back/Top) blew it out. keeping the system at a nice even teprature. HOWEVER. I did not take into the consideration the sheer size of this new vidcard., A Quick Smoke test shows that this vidcard not only blocks the air channels for the north bridge/CPU/MEM But It's Exausting it all ( Not quite all but most of it). Now This has obviously risen the temprature to a point where I had to lower my O/C where as the GPU is still quite happily at about 57-59C. my processor is hitting high 40's. for my P4 that's Very high. Usally sits in high 30's

I am Trying to keep my PC as clean looking as possible. so I really don't want to cut any holes If pos. Anyone Know of any tricks to Increase the air flow around these monster videocards. I've already put a high speed exaust fan on the rear (3500 RPM fan 8CM) and I'm contemplating making the top exaust a intake, Or possibly making a duct up for one of my intakes.

well I see noise isnt' an issue for you.

I'd get a 120mm panaflow and just rig it in there around the CD drive bays, it won't fit in there nice and pretty but it'll fit if you got the room and with some twisty ties, it won't look too bad. Thats how I have mine set up, works great.

I can get some pics up later if I remember. If I dont just PM me, goodluck

i would highly reccomend putting a hole on you panel for the vid card...i know you said you didnt want to, but thats where the problem is. But im a modder so i would put one on the panel
Or just get more intake, youve got what 1 intake? so maybe add another...like he said a 120 would be awesome for ya. Dont make the top and intake, always have the top as an exhaust.

oh man i didnt even catch that. Science man! heat rises! why would you want an intake at the top to fight the hot air trying to rise! ;)

and darknite, how does an ass taste sweet?

becuase once you taste her ass...oh man....lol...i cant get into to much detal..i at work..customers might not like me walkin around hunched over :D

lets just say im a very perverted man...and open to just about nehting when it comes to the women....like i said...just about nething

Actaull Airflow is not a problem Is just this 6800GU not only blocks a large amount of the air flow but exausts it too.

I'm Actaully going to try making my own acrilic ducting as it's a non cut mod. and If i can get UV sensitive Acrillic it would look awesome.

That way I would beable force the air from the lower inlet (Dual 8CM High flow fans) into the upper compartment. If i put a fan in there to assist with drawing the air from the inlet i recon i should get a pretty good air flow back up there without seriosuly effecting the vidcard or lower half of the system.

AS for putting a 120MM Fan in the front well It's not really fesable as I like my case to be pretty and everything where possilbe stealthed. plus that area is FULL of wires, 6 Harddisks, 2xCCFL, 4 Fans, 1 DVD RW+/- and a 6800GU will do that for you.

and beleive me the wiring is starting to get messy which is also just as annoying, and is starting to become unmanaggeable no matter how hard i try to divert the wiring. But ATM the wiring is not really impeading the air flow,

As for turning the top vent into a inlet, Well It was worth a try.

your duct sounds like a good idea. About it being UV sensitive, there's paint that can do that for you !
