I'm not sure if this has been asked before...I couldn't find it in a search but I didn't look too hard. I know there are some industry people on this board and I just was wondering when SAS is going to be available to consumers?

First half of this year.

Sorry, I can't get more specific than that at this point.

Keep your eye on this website for more details.

We should be shipping a SAS JBOD box in a couple of months with an active/active box a few months after that.

With backwards capatibility with SATA I except it filter down to the enthusiats level but probably not to the average consumer.

I'm very excited about SAS for this reason (and several others) ... (even though I've been personally playing with it for over a year now :D )

The interoperability between SAS and SATA is exactly what I need and consequently will be waiting for in order to build my next system...and no, I'm not patient, heh.

I have my business set up with Ingram Micro...will they be getting any early shipments?

Well, they are one of LSI's official distributors. But, since I don't work in distribution, I have no idea when or to whom we are shipping these things... I'm just a lowly engineer. :)

I may have to use you at some point for some Q&A for my patent if you'd be willing :).
