I have this motherboard.

http://www.biostar.com.tw/products/mainboard/board.php3?name=P4TSV

Biostar P4TSV 800FSB Motherboard Socket 478, Intel 865G/ICH5 Chipset.

My question is...ok i have a Samsung 120Gig 5400rpm Serial ATA-100 Hard Drive....i want to upgrade to a 120Gig 7200rpm Serial ATA-133 Hard Drive is that possible with my mobo. SATA-100 going to a SATA-133 will it work? ...Or i have to use SATA-100?

under I/O there is a line that says : Support Ultra DMA 33/66/100 Bus Master Modes

What is that mean does that mean the max is 100? SATA-133 won't work?

I dont think your board supports Seirial-ATA buddy... unless your using an adapter... Either I am really confused by your wording or you are really confused what Serial-ATA is

edit: They make SATA hard drives with 5400RPMs? wow..

Hmm well in my bios it says IDE Primary Master : "MyHarddrive" so is IDE same as SATA-100? I got this system from www.tigertv.com its a Systemax computer their P4 2.8Ghz HT one. Which is no longer listed on their website...but i remember checking for system specs for my system and it said SATA-100 5400RPM harddrive.

Im sorry i have a ATA-100 Harddrive!!! not SATA. SOoo basically ATA-100 means IDE?

Ok let me re-phrase my question.... will a ATA-133 hardrive work with my mobo/cables? If i have a ATA-100 currently installed...mobo info (first post)

Yea you have an IDE interface hard drive, if your motherboard supports upto ATA100, a ATA133 hard drive WILL WORK in your computer at ATA100 speeds. Hope this helps..

yea,,, there is no such thing as a sata at 100 or 133 ,..the base standard is 150...

also you can always look at the connecter.. the standard ide connect is about 2.5 inchs wide... while a sata connect is about 1/2 inch wide... which is about the same with as power connector to the floppy drive

IDE Is the interface in whichin connects. ATA is the speed in which it transfers. ATA-100 ATA-133 etc.

Rotation Speed 5,400 - 7,200 is the rate in which the platters spin. Access times.

SATA is another interface like IDE. Its base trrasfer is 150Mb/s on paper.

Hope that clears things up.

Your motherboard has Serial ATA, Mikey. It's those really small connectors near the RAM slots. Also, the Intel 865/875 chipsets both support SATA natively.
