sell 5870?

So I got offered $230 for my old xfx5870. Do you think I should sell the 5870 and spend $90 to upgrade to a 6970?

Is the performance boost big enough? Or, should I just wait for the 7*** series?
 
Is that what they're down to now? Was closer to $300 a few weeks ago.

Sounds like the 7xxx series is going to be pretty sweet. Of course, there's a lot of inferring and speculation. But I say its worth the wait. The 5870 is still a great card today.

Resale prices for the 5xxx series will probably never be better. So that's a "yes". However, it does look like the 7xxx cards will be far superior to the 6xxx series. So that's a "no". You need to weigh it out.

Im sort of in the same boat. Considering going to a 6950 from my 5850, but it isnt like my 5850 isnt performing.
 
Who are you selling to? I think you could potentially get more then that. At least make him pay for the shipping if you want to do $250.

I know haha. I'm probably going to wait then...unless I can re-sell the 6970 once the 7*** series come out.

It's a friend of a friend that lives near by. I don't really know him, but for $250+ we could be friends haha

Diddo, might sell my znfc. Would be nice to have a shorter card for my latest sff build.
