Hey guys:
Been having a hard time figuring out what's causing this. Most of my MP3s, CDs, DVDs don't exhibit hissing/popping noise. But a few, select MP3's do have popping at certain parts. E.g. there's faint bg/ambient type music and then the bass comes in. When the bass comes in, it comes with a hiss/shhrrhrh kind of sound attached to it.
My analysis is this: If it was a codec problem, wouldn't it affect ALL of my MP3s? If it was a hardware problem, why be selective with only SOME of my MP3s?
*I know it's not either the headphones or speakers b/c both exhibit the same symptoms from the same file. So then maybe it's a hardware problem (X-Fi)? But then I ask, why, is it isolated to a few SELECT MP3's? It's not like the X-Fi is choosing to hiss/crackle during one song, and not during the other. I have plenty of rap/hip-hop songs that sound crystal clear.
Should I just give up and assume those MP3's that exhibit that problem are just...bad?
