hello guys,
I need some help in installing some security camera with a DVR, but the problem is that i don't know much about these stuff.
If someone can help me or guide me for what to search for before buying.

I'm not sure what type of hardware you have in your DVR or if you can install windows on it. But for me, I installed a program called Vitamin D, plugged in the USB cameras, and I was set to go. You can specify rules in the program to record all the time, or only when it detects motion.

hello thank you for your reply but i was more concerned in how to choose the cam and the DVR

oh. well I went the budget route and I simply used my home pc and purchased $5 usb web cams from ebay. If you want range and high definition consider the wifi cams. for a dvr, I would just build a cheap pc, install windows. although many people prefer linux distros, but I'm not familiar with them.

@saad - What's your budget? What exactly do you want to use the security for? Just watch a room? Wire up a house? Do you want to use a DVR? Or is a PC possible?

well i have a small shop and i was thinking about putting some security cam.
i only need MAX 4 cam one on the outside able to see the road and the others on the inside off-course i need to record on hard disk.
well i don't know about the pricing but i guess 800$ would be enough. i don't need very high tech cam.
the main reason for the cam is to be able to monitor what my employee are doing.
