Hi all,

Currently my setup is:

i7 920 OC to 4GHz
EVGA x58 SLi LE
HD4890 OC to 1GHz
3GB 1600 GSkill (@1610)

CPU+NB+GPU are watercooled.

Right now, my MCR220 just can't keep up when I add an i7 mobo/cpu. So, I have just ordered an MCR320 to add into my loop. Here's my question: What's the best order to put the rads in? I was thinking:

->mcr220-mcr320-Res-Pump-CPU-NB-GPU->
or
->Res-Pump-CPU-NB-mcr320-GPU-mcr220

What do you think?

And one more quick question: I want to mount the 320 inside my case for aesthetic reasons, although it gets warm inside my case. Not hot, but warm. How much of an effect will this have on cooling? Basically, the mcr220 sits on the outside of two 120mm fan holes and then blows the air into the case and the front 120mm fan exhausts it. The fans are rated ~ 60CFM so airflow is decent, not stagnant. Will this have a big performance impact if the rad is situated in warmer ambients? (I would think so?)

Normally I would say mount the 320 up top and the power supply on the bottom. But in your case, it might not work and you'd have to do some extensive cable rerouting. What you are doing will still work, but your PSU will definitely block part of the airflow for the 320, reducing its efficiency.

As for loop order, I've heard that loop temperature equalizes.so loop order doesn't really matter too much in the long run as long as you have res directly to pump in your order. Not having the res feeding the pump can endanger the pump because you're not supposed to run it dry.

Thanks for the reply, I always have the res feeding the pump because of that exact reason. And the 320 will be partially in the drive bay, so the PSU doesn't block all three fans. The 320+220 will give me a decent temperature improvement, yes? I really don't want to mod the case at all because it was rather expensive and I don't trust myself with cutting the case up :)

That case looks like everything will fit rather intimately. From what I can see there's a lot of powersupply cables in your 5.25 bays, and aren't you going to have to mod some sort of mount/supports to get the 320 in there? Other than that, your temps should be fine, but would be much, much better in my opinion in a bigger case where the 320 can be positioned better.
 
Just from general knowledge, which you are probably well aware of anyway, it is better to have your fans go in reverse (based on the diagram you provided), as hot air rises and should be ejected from the internal environment (chassis) ASAP.
 
Yes, I will have to mod the little support rails for the PSU but that's different, I don't mind drilling a few holes. Unfortunately I just bought that case thinking it would be large enough as it is a full tower, but I was wrong. Later down the road I will get a bigger case. The picture is a little dated, I cleaned it up quite a bit and most of the cables run down behind the mobo tray now. I already measured and checked to make sure the rad will fit, I just need to find a way to mount it to the rails.
