Recently the fan of my Point of View GTX 560Ti started to become loud in idle.
I want to replace it but it's very hard to find one that fits. I ask to you if it is reasonable to use a more common cpu fan, like Noctua NF-R8 PWM. Obviously I should modify the plastic cover of the vga (from round to square opening) or modify the fan: removing the external beige part of the NF-R8, like in the following mockup:
then stick it on the sink.
Is this solution feasible? Is the NF-R8 adequate for the gpu workload?
The main problem I see is the connector: the stock fan uses a 4 pin connector smaller than Noctua. There exists an adaptor?
Anything else I'm not considering?
Thanks for your suggestions.
