Hey
I bit on the Seagate 160gig ide drive on the hot deals forum. I followed all the instructions in the booklet [install the drive into the comp, install the program, run the program, format] but when i run the program that comes with the drive it tells me it cant detect an ATA drive. Ive tried it with windows having installed drivers, without drivers, downloaded edition of the program, with the drive uninstalled, reinstalling the program, etc. Windows detects the drive but it doesnt show up on My Computer but it shows up in Device manager. IT also detects the drive in Bios but no luck in My computer. Any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks

Try using a program called partition magic to format the drive to ntfs. I'm not sure if it is an option.. but type diskmgmt.msc into the run box and see if you can format the drive there without wasting any money.

You may have to write a signature for it. Right click on My Computer -> Manage. Go to Disk Management and see if there is a disk there with a red sign on it. Right click that and write signature. At that point you should be able to see it.

Thanks alot you guys. Method i tried ur method and i didnt get a write signature box but i got initialize [ the description of hte drive said it was not initialized so i did that and formed a new partition.] thanks for the help.
