SCSI drive question

i got another 15K fujitsu drive installed today and wondered what happens if i check these boxes on this screenshot, i assume i leave them un-checked for desktop use ?

these are running on a adaptec 29160n PCI card for now until i upgrade to something faster when i go quadcore.
