Screwed Up Hardware?

every once in a while my monitor goes like this:

this usually happens in the morning right after i boot up
when this happens, nothing is responsive but the mouse still moves around. that different colored square near the bottom is the mouse==> it can move but clicking doesnt work

I think it may have somthing to do with my mobo b/c i did mess it up in the past (plugged ATX power in wrong) but ionno

does any one have some expert help for me???

is the cable plugged in all the way???

my buddies computer does that once in a while, but only when he games, and i assume that his sapphire 9600 pro overheats.. but if it happens right at bootup... i dont know

I'd say there's something wrong with either your vid card or AGP slot... try different vid card - preferably PCI one...

Yeah, definately vid card. Sounds like it doesn't like doing even light work when its cold.

check your memory, if they are in correty. take em out and put them back in.

make sure it's not the agp slot first... borrow a friends agp card or if you have an old one laying around try it out for a while.

Ahh crap, my compaq armada 7730mt notebook computer is doing that sometimes
