I have this obnoxious high pitched whine from my drives ( i have 3). Is there any way, besides buying new ones, to quiet them down? I heard of sandwhiching, but i dont have the room for it.

I'm thinking of suspending them in bungee cord from inside my cdrom bay, but are there any other options? The whine is on the edge of my hearing so that if i turn my head a little it dissapears, but its almost always there.

there are these foam pads which quiet down your case in general. there are also hard disk enclosures which help a bit. but then there's the good solution: buy new drives. seagate 7200.7s are really really quiet. my $.02
