I took my Storm CPU block off today and noticed that I somehow put a scratch into the surface. Will this hurt things or shall I try to polish it out?

Not always true. Flatness is more important than shiny. I have seen super shiny waterblocks appear to be smooth, but not flat, and getting outperformed by a well lapped but not super bling bling block.

How deep is the scratch? If it's really deep, like half a millimeter, it'd be a good idea to lap. Otherwise, a nice coat of arctic Silver should take care of it.
