older cheap lcd - worked fine with my old x800xl and then on my 8800

sold it to a friend with the x800 and she's used it without fail

now i just upgraded her setup - amd x2 and a his 4650

all through setup the monitor worked just fine - loaded vista, display drivers from microsoft were ok

i loaded the latest cat drivers and restarted - now the monitor goes out of sync when windows loads

connected through a dvi cable, i dont know which kind [dvi i or d or whatever...]

no matter what resolution or refresh i try - the monitor will not sync with the video card

i tried both my monitors, my dlp hdtv and an older crt - all worked just wonderfully... but this older sceptre just isnt digging it

any tips?

im going after work to try both vga and another dvi cable to see what's what...

Best of luck to you, and if you figure anything out, let me know.

I've got an old (expensive) 19" Sceptre, same story. VGA works fine, DVI will not work. You may have some luck hooking it up as the SECOND monitor in a dual-monitor setup through DVI. Basically, you need to display more pixels.

My understanding is that it's a problem with the cats - they refuse (even when you try to force it) to keep the refresh within the ~65hz limit at 1280x1024. Higher resolutions will work fine, so if you get a larger monitor you're good to go.

I was really hoping 9.1 would fix this. Now I'm back in the market for another high-end panel (can't stand TN, especially for the photo work I do).

well i havent tried vga yet so if that fixes it im all good... as i dont necessarily need dvi

i might try other drivers as it was ok with the wddm windows one - i always had luck with the omega drivers too...

Sceptre has some major QA issues when it comes to monitor solutions. Similar happened to me with my Naga. Best advice; send it back to Sceptre if the warranty allows.

I'm pretty sure it's a driver issue, perhaps an EDID issue. Do you have reason to believe there's a hardware problem?

Probably moot anyway, I don't think sceptre cares if we're unhappy with our 5-year-old monitors

I had something shorted out in the connection itself on my first sceptre, that's the only reason I mentioned it.
