Is it possible to connect one SATA drive to a computer as well as an IDE drive?

SATA with IDE?

yes.
I run my main 250g drive via SATA, and have a 80G IDE for storage (set to slave). Just make sure you've configured your bios properly with regard to boot order and drive priority.

I have an 80gig IDE and a 500 gig SATA. I wanted to put windows on the ide and keep storage on the 500. I also wanted to install games on the 500 so as to allow them the faster data transfer of the sata. Good idea?

personally, I'd want windows on the faster drive.
