If this has been answered allready (I bet it has) i'm sorry. I just bought 2 80gb WD hds with the 8meg buffer over the weekend. The deal was incredible (25 bucks after rebates) =) I should be receiving my intel bundle today or tomorrow, and its the Intel 915pbl chipset, so its SATA time. Am i still gonna get good performance if I get an IDE-SATA adapter? And what are good ones? I don't know if want to run a RAID 0 setup, or just have 2hds. Thanks a lot.
 
eh, most sata drives aren't any faster than a pata drive. It will probably perform within 5 percent with an adapater
 
i am currently useing an adapter from ide to sata. HERE is the link to it.

i have not had any problems with it but if your hdds mount from side to side instead of front to back in the case you might have problems

i also used one of those plastic tie straps around it and the hdd to make sure it didnt come out while transporting to lan parties. if you dont do this then u will be ok.

as far as performance. i get about the same as i did before.

i would do it so u can have your hdds and optical drives on different channels.
