sata problem?

i just finished building a computer with a sata hard drive. the problem is my mobo doesn't have onboard sata. so i have a SI sata pci card. i installed that to my pci slot and plug my sata hard drive to the sata port. when i'm trying to setup windows, it doesn't detect any hard drive. did i do something wrong? thanks
 
You need to install the cards sata drives before Windozes will "see" the drive.
When you start the install process hit "F6" when it says.
This will let you install the drivers from a floppy drive.
Hopefully Windozes will then see the drive and install the rest of the way.

i tried that but nothing happens. i followed that step on the instruction that came with the pci card.

am i suppose to plug in the hard drive before installing the drivers or after installing the drivers? the last time i did, the hard drive was plug in and when i hit f6 nothing happens. after it boot to floppy, it told me to insert boot disk.

Have your drive plugged in, in this case. When you press F6, nothing should happen right away - but then, in the midst of driver loading, a message should pop up telling you to install the third-party drivers. At that point, you should insert the floppy disk into your floppy drive.

After you copied the driver files into your system, please remove the floppy disk when the computer starts rebooting, since your driver floppy disk is non-bootable. (Until the red bar indicating that your system will restart in xx seconds appears, do not remove your driver floppy disk.)
 
Some motherboards (or add on cards) require you to enable “raid” in the bios before install. During your post screen look for the “F-Key” to allow you to set up raid. Choose your sata drive and select it as a single drive, save and exit.

In your bios don’t forget to select “CD-ROM” as your initial boot drive for your windows install as well.
