Will a regular SATA motherboard work with a SATA 10,000 rpm hdd? I've seen an ultra SATA. Can anyone tell me what the difference is?

Also, could I run some combo of SATA and IDE hdds at the same time?

To answer the second part. Yes you can have both running. The SATA drives use their own cables, leaving the standard ATA/IDE slots on the board open.
