I was thinging aboutt a 160GB (6Y160MO) SATA Maxtor hard Drive for my main computer in sig. I was just wonder how to make it my main drive without Formatting I know maxtor has maxblast to do that but what about SATA Drivers? Should I enable my SATA controller in bios and the jumper and install the drivers on the current drive and then switch the drives? I just want a newer bigger and faster drive but don't want to install windows again Thanks
 
Just my opinion here, but…Save yourself a ton of headaches and just do a fresh install of Windows on your new drive. Why copy over all those registry errors, excess junk etc that you neither want or need?

A fresh install is always faster and easier to work with and face it, you could have been done by now instead of looking for a workaround.;)
 
Well I don't have the drive yet just looking for options before I get a SATA drive. and yes I do love to Format C: :D Just not on my system with all of my data. But I have a new DVD burner so I guess when the drive comes I will back up and Format C:
