SATA Drive problem, plz help

i have an amd 3200+ (CPU), MSI K8TNEO (motherboard), an old 9600 PRO (GPU), all in a Lian Li case. There are 2 drives i would like to currently use on this comp (both SATA) 1 drive is 40 GB and the other is 160 GB. As of right now only one works (the 40 GB) and it doesn't work great. I would like to reinstall Windows XP Pro but unfortunatley everytime i try to do so i get the message "no hard drive disks installed, press enter to restart". Obviously if i am REINSTALLING Windows i do actually have a hard drive installed but Windows seems to think i do not. I have 4 SATA ports on my mobo. They are labled SER1 and SER2 and SATA1 and SATA2.

Would anyone happen to know whats wrong? Responses are much appreciated. :D
 
Odds are you need to load a driver for the installer to see the SATA drives. You should have a floppy that came w/ your mobo or you can probably dl the driver from msi's website and make your own floppy.

Once you have the disk in hand, start the XP installation and in the very beginning press F6 (it will prompt you on the bottom of the screen) and the installer will stop after it loads its built in driver database and allow you to load the drivers from the floppy. And yes they MUST be on a floppy, they cannot be loaded form CD/USB flash drive/etc. :mad:
 
ah thank you very much :) . I do have 2 Floppys that came with the mobo. One says SATA Raid Drivers. Would this prolly be the correct one?
