I have a SATA 74G Raptor drive on my 'IS7' Motherboard and I can't get it to boot if I have an IDE Hard drive connected. I've tried several drives, some formated/some not, some have a windows install/some don't, master or slave. But the computer wont boot if I have ANY IDE hard drive connected in addition to my SATA drive.

Also, I've specified in BIOS to boot to SATA and THEN to the IDE, but no luck. It boots just fine if its just the SATA drive in there.

Any thoughts?

when u try your other hard drive (not SATA) is it new or old? was it on another mobo before this one? did you formatt it before you put it on this one? if you answered no questions 2 and 3 u need to formatt the hard drive.

make sure that the drive isnt bad. also read the specs to your mobo and see if it supports the hard drive. do the same thing to the hard drive specs. most hard drives only go on certain mobos.

Lucky for you I had this EXACT same problem about a week ago (I also added a new 75GB raptor for my OS).

All you have to do is enable IDE Bus Mastering in your bios. It whould boot off the raptor after you do that....at least it did the trick for me!

Let us know if that fixes the problem...
