I currently have two ATA/EIDE Maxtor 80GB drives that I can hook up to a RAID interface on my mobo (ASUS P4C800-E). Now if I purchase a SATA drive, will it but faster than the two ATA 133 drives in a RAID configuration?

Thanks

There is a lot of other variables concerning the speed, depening on the features of the drives you are buying..

Thereotically yes it should be faster, if the RAID setup is exactly the same. Would there be a real world difference? Probablly not.

The RAID will probably feel faster in actual use. To me, there is no perceptible difference between a PATA and SATA drive, if the drives are identical in all other aspects.
