So whats the real diffrence besides the obvious its twice as "fast"

so really what is the big deal about it... and is it worth the extra 20 bucks or w/e it is to go up to 3 instead of 1.5

While most SATA drives may not be able to sustain speeds higher than 78MB/s (far from the 150MB/s limit), I still notice my SATA300 drives are much faster than my SATA150 drives.

$20 difference? wha? where? Do they even make SATA150 drives anymore, aside from laptop drives and raptors?

I think it's more so because the newer revisions are just better drives in general...and since they're newer revisions they might as well throw "SATAII" support on there. :p\

However, yes I forgot to mention that. I don't see a price difference between them at all..

I saw that, too. I was tempted to grab two for a raid0 array.

SATA 150 drives are still around, just not very much. As for the performance, SATA 300 is quite a bit faster, but not near the stated bandwidth.

No drive itself is fast enough yet to hit the limits of SATA150. The difference is in the burst speeds, or data read from the cache on the drive. That helps a little.
