Hi,
I am in the process of trying to set up my pc, and boy am i having fun NOT!!! i have another post in forum regarding shutting down of 4800= x2 s939 and this is another little glitcg i have at the moment. When running games esp Motogp2 half life2 etc 3/4 down the page there appears to be a small ripple effect like a wave running across the screen, anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it?? this effect does not seem to appear on my other single core s939 3500+ running x800xt card but just my x1950pro both cards are running with official catalyst 7.6 issue drivers which ar the official ati drivers i have tried omega 29.3 and 3.8.330 drivers but the ripple is still there anyone got a clue??

Many Thanks

Ian Jones

It might be something to do with a dual core, you might wanna check the dual core guide in the AMD section of the forums.

And on another note, you wanna sell your old x800?

Hi
A bit more info is needed to assist.

The problem occurs on one machine and not the other?
Or do you swap out the graphics card and CPU using the same machine?
Are you using the same monitor when making comparisons or different ones?

Hi,
thanks for the reply,
I also think it may be something to do with dual core because my x800xt does not show that effect at all with my single core, I know the X1950pro is a totally different card so i will check that with my single core later today to see what happens. I have everything i can think of installed ms hotfix, dc optimiser, all ms updates are up to date so i just do not know, with regards to the 800 i am still using it in my single core machine so sorry i cant help you with that 1 sorry

??
If you answer the questions I may be able to help, they are quite easy.

Hi,
the problem only appears whilst using x1950pro with dc cpu, if i put my single core 3500+ in with x1950pro then problem is not apparent so looks like it is either a driver issue with dc cpu and x1950pro or it is a dc cpu issue maybe running both cores instead of forcing to use one only??

yes i am using the same monitor it is a 17 inch ctx s700 tft

hope this helps with an answer?

As the problem only occurs when you have the 2 higher power devices plugged in (dual core CPU and new Graphics card), it could be a power issue.

See if it works ok by clocking the graphics card and CPU down a fair bit.

I'm thinking your PSU may not be supplying enough current on 12V which means you are either putting too much on one power rail or the PSU is faulty.

A photo would be nice as well in case the issue only appears on video out.

Hi,
thanks for all the replies guys, i managed to locate the problem eventually through a suggestion by itsthinking it was a vsynch problem i have corrected it now and all is well thanks everyone for your time and knowledge this is a great little forum i will defo use it again, now if anyone can help me with my other post 4800+ x2 shutdown problem i would be eternally grateful!!!

many thanks once again
