Saphire HD4890 + Catalyst problem

I just recently bought a 4890 from a friend.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
550watt PSU.
4gb DDR2.

When I go to install ATI Catalyst the installation stops when I click "Install" The whole installer just disappears. I have tried 10.2, 10.1, and 9.xx (forgot which). All do the same thing.

I also noticed in BF:BC2 I am getting much longer load times in between rounds. I got a 2-3 second load time with my 8800GTS but this one is giving me 15-30 second load times
 
he shouldn't need to do a clean reinstall.cause i was running nvidia sli before my 4890 and all i did was install catalyst and the card worked/s perfectly.and yes i still run the geforce drivers for physx(9600gt).
 
didnt you read his post? he CANT install the catalyst drivers. so how do you propose that he "install catalyst and the card works perfectly"?
 
Okay so I was able to update drivers via windows but not from ATIs regular installer, I am trying that link now.
 
Thank God for people who think outside the box. Killmenow you hit that nail on the head, it is installing as I write this :)))))))))
 
Well, seems to be stuck at 80% "Enumerating source media for installable packages..."
 
the 9.12 is a solid driver, I have been using it for a while now without any issue and with my Asus 4890 it chews through everything while maxed out.

Thats because for some reason on ATI cards, DX10 increases loading times alot. I have the same problem on my 4890.

You can change back to DX9 in the setting.ini which is found in the bfbc2 beta folder in your documents. Just change DxVersion=auto to DxVersion=9 but then again, the beta has ended but could also apply to retail.
 
I have found that DX 9 gives a decent load time (still not as good as the 8800) but the quality sucks when contrasted to DX 10. I will eventually get a DX 11 card but right now I have what I have. I am just wondering why the load time is faster on the nVidia card but the performance is far superior on the ATI card.
