Samsung SyncMaster 240T

I got this monitor from a friend a while ago. They said it was broken and the only thing that needed to be replaced was the power brick. Right now i'm having a problem where there are lines going down the screen. Looks like purplish or like the color is missing. I think a line of pixels are just going out. I would like to know if any of you have ideas on what could be wrong with it. I'm probably going to call Samsung, but i still want some other comments on the matter.
