I just ordered a Samsung 712n synchmaster 17 inch flat panels for $250. I wasnt planning on going to LCD because I hear that CRT's are better for gaming which is what i primarily do. But I saw this 17" with a 12ms repsonse time and picked one up. It doesnt have DVI though, i dont know really how much of a difference DVI vs. analog makes. Does anyone have one of these and can tell me the pros and cons..

This must be the 8th person since I came here that asked for pros and cons after a purchase. Sorry to be a basher, but that was seriously a not-so-smart move (to put it nicely).

Well when I saw it was a one day only sale, so that didnt give me much time to ask around before i bought it. Its a 17 inch samsung with a 12ms response time for just 250. I thought it was a pretty good deal.. I just wanted to hear from some owners on what they thought of it. But I can still cancel the order if I wanted too. This monitor doesnt have DVI so would it be worth it to get a 16ms with DVI for 50 bucks more or stick with the 12 ms with analog?

I got mine on bf for 250. It has 0 dead pixels and very little backlight leak. It plays fine in hl2 and d3. Overall I am very happy with it.

Wow! A 12ms for $250? Great price. I just got an LG L1710S(K) for $285 (free shipping) from the Egg and I thought it was a great deal.
It's analog only but it works great. Not sorry I bought it. No dead pixels that I can tell and haven't noticed any ghosting. Even looks great playing UT 2004 and Half Life 2 at 1024 X 768. I don't think my Sony E400 looked any better (and it looked good).
Personally, I don't think you're going to be sorry for saving a few bucks and going analog.
My buddy has a Hitachi (IIRC) 16ms and he see's no discernable difference switching between analog and DVI.

Well it was 250 after rebates, but i've had a good history with rebates so I went for it. More and more from what i hear is that people play games with analog just fine and DVI isnt such a big deal for gaming. So im gonna stick with my analog 12ms. Thx for the info every1.
